Red Mountain was first located in 1969 in the Carico Lake Valley of Lander County Nevada. The history is found in Turquoise in America Part Two, 1910-1990.
 
This cabochon weighs 22.7 carats and measures 3.5cm X 2cm. It is priced at $80 a carat or $1816. It is not treated and is backed. I have assigned a TG of 91 or GG. This stone was purchased from the McGinnis family who own the mine.
