Lander Blue is an iconic turquoise mine in Lander County Nevada. It was mined briefly in 1975 with small production. It is the most expensive turquoise. The story of Lander Blue is found in Turquoise in America Part Two, 1910-1990.
This cab weighs 9.2 carats and measures 1.75 cm X 1.5 cm. It is not treated and is backed. The price is $400 a carat or $3,680. I have assigned a TG of 95 or GG. This turquoise comes from a squash blossom necklace made in the late 1970’s that I purchased with Bob Brucia who owns the claim. This is a larger weight for Lander Blue. White spot is from camera flash.
