Kingman VHG Cabochon

Kingman is the collective name for turquoise from Ithaca Peak and Turquoise Mountain in the old Mineral Park District of Arizona. It is one of the most well-known and desirable of all turquoise. The history is found in Parts One, Two and Three of Turquoise in America.

This cabochon weighs 126 carats and measures 6cm X 4cm, It is priced at $25 a carat or $3150. It is not treated and is backed. I have assigned a TG of 89 or VHG. Cabs of this size, this grade and from this time period are very rare. This stone came from the collection of an Indian art dealer in Fort Worth TX during the 1960’s to 1970’s. It was tested by the XRF process and found to be Kingman. I purchased from the daughter of the store owner.
