Kingman is the collective name for turquoise from Ithaca Peak and Turquoise Mountain in the old Mineral Park District in Arizona. It is one of the most well-known and desirable of all turquoise. The history is found in Parts One, Two and Three of Turquoise in America.
This cabochon weighs 44 carats and measures 3.75cm X 4cm, It is priced at $50 a carat or $2200. It is not treated and is double sided. I have assigned a TG of 91 or GG. Kingman of this grade from this time period is very rare. It is especially appealing because it is finished on both sides. This stone came from the collection of an Indian art dealer in Fort Worth TX during the 1960’s to 1970’s. It was tested by the XRF process and found to be Kingman. I purchased from the daughter of the store owner.
