Mike, that part of your book was one of the most interesting stories; there is not a lot of technical info out there concerning the geology and age of turquoise deposits. Thanks! Also, in the lower center of your second photo of the Lavender Pit, you can see it was taken at exactly the moment that quite a bit of dynamite was exploding to loosen copper ore from the pit. Great photo!!

Nice you picked up on that. Also the giant shovels that look tiny give a sense of scale. Developments in metallurgy made during the war allowed for the equipment required for open pit mining.
